Footprint Tours on the Kyoto History

In 17 centry, the Great Stature of Buddha and its housing hall was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and his son. It was much bigger than the one of Nara's, but burnt down in 18 centry. The reconstructions were done several times, but they were burnt down every time after they were built. This old drawing shows the hall which is outstanding in Kyoto city.

 

Now the relic of basic stones of the Buddha can be seen at the very site.
